ETTs (Embedded Tactical Trainers) Talk About the Consistant Failure of Training the Afghan Army

 (HotAir h/t)

I hate to do it, but I am going to re-post the Ken Jowitt video I edited after this initial video  post. A great point was made about a nationalistic pride in this video.  Which caused me to think of WWII -- Germany was very "nationalistic, as was Japan, which drove these people to make their country great again.  There doesn't seem to be any "nationalism," as the ETT put it, that can drive these Afghan men.  There is however a worldwide Islamic state (nationalism) driving the enemy.  Likewise, if the majority of Mulsim believers only have nationalistic pride for this worldwide hope for an Islamic state, then no amount of pride for Afghanistan will overcome that.  I say put up some bases in Afghanistan and let these buggers come to us to die... for years if need be.  We have the nationalism to stop the global ambitions of this cultic Jihad.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai Says Afghanistan Needs 15-20 Years of Assistance

I found this very interesting, for the main reason that he knows that to have a government in power like that is moderate and concerned about freedom (corrupt or not) for a generation (20-years) is very important and may be the most powerful change factor Afghanistan needs.  Israel needed two generations to loose most of what they had been taught while slaves in Egypt. Dr. Ken Jowitt talks about this here:

Professor Ken Jowitt Answers What It Takes to "Nation Build" -- Why We Will Fail in Iraq (& Afghanistan) -- 2004

(See Time Marker 1:03:26 Into Video.)

This is the best explanation on why we will fail in Iraq and Afghanistan I have heard!  Hands-down.

Conversations with History: Kenneth Jowitt

Some interesting input on subjects worth watching.  Ken speaks a bit to his upbringing as an Irish/Roman Catholic (7:46 in). At 12:15 Professor Jowitt gets into his main premise of his lifelong studies (from there it is a must listen for the student of history).  He talks about Leninism/Marxism and defines it well.  Dr. Jowitt zeroes in on individuality and implicitly we Protestants can apply this thinking to theology and our Reformational history.  It can be summed up in "corporatism" versus "individualism."  (Corporatism is not Lockheed-Martin or GM.)  I believe that this "corporatism" is what is drawing Evangelicals (and other Protestants) into the Emergent fold.  In fact, I would include Ken Jowitt's book , New World Disorder, into an in-depth study of emergent theology, as, many of the founding theologians of open-theism and emergent thinking are theologians that accept an almost Hegelian understanding of history and apply it to theology and their praxology.  If you listen you will understand what "ethnic-lite" means and that northern California is inhabited by more therapists than laymen (tongue in cheek).
