Jail Time Recommended by Hippie Leftie Scientist

It is the lefties who are fascists!

Love it Hot Air (props)... Two stories for the price of one!

Old: Global warming increases hurricanes.

New: Global warming decreases hurricanes.

Why don’t we just take the average and say that since global warming may or may not even be happening, and if it is then the Sun might be the main cause, it’s impossible to say if global warming is having any effect on hurricanes at all?

Oh, right. That makes for a lousy scare-headline and can’t be turned to anyone’s political advantage.

Global warming could reduce how many hurricanes hit the United States, according to a new federal study that clashes with other research. The new study is the latest in a contentious scientific debate over how manmade global warming may affect the intensity and number of hurricanes.

In it, researchers link warming waters, especially in the Indian and Pacific oceans, to increased vertical wind shear in the Atlantic Ocean near the United States. Wind shear — a change in wind speed or direction — makes it hard for hurricanes to form, strengthen and stay alive.

So that means “global warming may decrease the likelihood of hurricanes making landfall in the United States,” according to researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Miami Lab and the University of Miami.

I eagerly await Al Gore’s denunciation of the Bushbots at NOAA and U of M.

You don't believe in global warming... go to jail!

David Suzuki Demands Jail Time for Global Warming Skeptics

As the bottom falls out of the global warming hoax, its proponents are becoming increasingly desperate. Canada's wacky but influential David Suzuki echoes the call from the environazi fever swamps to have skeptics thrown in jail:

At a Montreal conference last Thursday, the prominent scientist, broadcaster and Order of Canada recipient exhorted a packed house of 600 to hold politicians legally accountable for what he called an intergenerational crime. Though a spokesman said yesterday the call for imprisonment was not meant to be taken literally, Dr. Suzuki reportedly made similar remarks in an address at the University of Toronto last month.

Like most totalitarians, he first wants to go after leaders who won't toe his line:

"What I would challenge you to do is to put a lot of effort into trying to see whether there's a legal way of throwing our so-called leaders into jail because what they're doing is a criminal act," said Dr. Suzuki, a former board member of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. […]

"He sounded serious," said McGill Tribune news editor Vincci Tsui, who covered the event.

Once again we see that a commitment to civil liberties is a dispensable sham. All moonbats really care about is projecting their self-hatred. This takes the form of denouncing their own societies, penalizing their own ethnic groups, killing their own children and in the case of environmentalists, siding against the human race.

Global Cooling -- A New Earth Day Awaits

Full circle. The first Earth Day there were scientists up on the podium screaming about “global coolong” and that we had to change our habits to avert disaster. Then came “Global Warming”! And now? Again global cooling.

The Sun Also Sets

Climate Change: Not every scientist is part of Al Gore's mythical "consensus." Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun.

And they're worried about global cooling, not warming….

….Kenneth Tapping, a solar researcher and project director for Canada's National Research Council, is among those looking at the sun for evidence of an increase in sunspot activity.

Solar activity fluctuates in an 11-year cycle. But so far in this cycle, the sun has been disturbingly quiet. The lack of increased activity could signal the beginning of what is known as a Maunder Minimum, an event which occurs every couple of centuries and can last as long as a century.

Such an event occurred in the 17th century. The observation of sunspots showed extraordinarily low levels of magnetism on the sun, with little or no 11-year cycle.

This solar hibernation corresponded with a period of bitter cold that began around 1650 and lasted, with intermittent spikes of warming, until 1715. Frigid winters and cold summers during that period led to massive crop failures, famine and death in Northern Europe.

Tapping reports no change in the sun's magnetic field so far this cycle and warns that if the sun remains quiet for another year or two, it may indicate a repeat of that period of drastic cooling of the Earth, bringing massive snowfall and severe weather to the Northern Hemisphere.

MITT IS OUT!

He just gave a very Reaganesque speech at CPAC! He is prime pickins for another run!

McCain is suppose to give a speech at CPAC... he bailed on CPAC last year... he is coming back crawling to try and redeem himself in the eyes of the base (us). I will not join Coulter, Dobson, and other conservatives in not voting for the Republican nominee. I hope that this RINO is a wake up call for the Repubs.

It is very liberal persons (Obama and/or Hillary) verses very moderate persons (McCain and [vice pres?] Huckabee).

People at CPAC has booed McCain in the past, CPAC is asking for no booing at McCain's speech. Typically when people when the nomination, they then become more moderate (because they have won the base) to try and woo the rest of the voting public. McCain, after winning this nomination will have to become more conservative, at least for a while, to try and woo his base. Wierd!
