Intel Stepping It Up -- For All You Speed Freaks Out There -- Me


From the same company that brought you Firewire (Apple) comes a new high speed data transfer standard called Light Peak and Intel has indicated it has big plans for it. The optical-based, high speed data transfer technology can reach speeds in excess of 10 Gbps which means you could transfer a 30 GB Blu-ray movie in about 30 seconds. Reports also indicate that Apple could have this technology in Macs as soon as next year. Here’s a video from Intel about the technology.
