Will Resident Muslims "Rise Up"?

This was a question posed to me at this post, "Islamo-Fascism Festering in Ghettos," it is followed by my response:

when the time comes, do you think that resident muslims will have the courage to stand up to the islamic purists that have "infiltrated" both of our nations? or will they simply join them to save their own lives?

I think some Muslims have reformed with their new life here in the States. Others, will feel that any attack on their "faith" (verbal challenges, cartoons, etc) will consider it a time to "rise" up. Different times for different persons I am sure. I put "faith" in quotes because many Muslims -- while verbally rejecting extremist Islam -- seem to not have the cognitive skills to separate their "claimed" faith and that of the extremists. There are some sites that try to embed this reformational thinking, a few are linked below.

Much of this comes from, I believe, a refusal to even consider criticism of the Quran, their faith, and the like. Jehovah's Witnesses are almost the same. Any viewpoint that is counter to what they are taught is evil and needs to be rejected wholly. I think this is where Christianity is "head and shoulders" above the rest. Apologists take, investigate, apply logic-history-archaeology-philosophy, and the like, towards these arguments which are welcomed into the debate.

  • Is God good if evil exists in real time;
  • Evolutionary evidences disprove the God of the Bible;
  • There are contradictions in the Biblical text;
  • What about the crusades?

Etc., etc. I have amassed a library of 4,000 books in part to respond to such criticisms. You would not find such libraries in Muslim homes (or Jehovah's Witness homes for analogy). Even in debates with Islamic scholars and Christian philosophers, you see an almost blind faith when they are confronted with opposition, yet, they use "evidences" from critics against the Christian faith. Evidence they reject without even so much a response to when confronted with themselves. James White or William Craig actually responds to such criticisms in a cogent manner.

To finish my thought. I think there is a dangerous lack of reflection within Islam and thus an over-reactionary response to such conflicts with the modern world that I would point to as becoming more known in the U.S. (as just happened at Fort Hood). Any encounter with the modern world is almost considered persecution. Any death of someone who claims Mulim’hood, no matter the circumstances, is considered persecution.

I wish to add that within the black community what use to be the haven for radical thinking that allowed for violent tendancies, specifically Marxism, has been replaced by an odd mix of the Marxist ideal with the fervor of the Islamic faith. The 60's and 70's fruit is the black liberation theology found in church's like that of Obama's.

The U.K. unfortunately has dealt with this problem in a P.C. manner, and has allowed this "ethos" within the Islamic community to build and grow... I just hope we as a country deal with it a bit differently.

Is Mohammad the Best Role Model for Mankind?

The thought of an old man becoming aroused by a child is one of the most disturbing thoughts that makes us cringe as it reminds us of pedophilia and the most despicable people. It is difficult to accept that the Holy Prophet married Aisha when she was 6-years-old and consummated his marriage with her when she was 9. He was then, 54 years old.

Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3310:
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house when I was nine years old.

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64
Narrated 'Aisha:

that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 65
Narrated 'Aisha:

that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that 'Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death)." what you know of the Quran (by heart)'

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88
Narrated 'Ursa:

The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).

Some Muslims claim that it was Abu Bakr who approached Muhammad asking him to marry his daughter. This is of course not true and here is the proof.

Sahih Bukhari 7.18
Narrated 'Ursa:

The Prophet asked Abu Bakr for 'Aisha's hand in marriage. Abu Bakr said "But I am your brother." The Prophet said, "You are my brother in Allah's religion and His Book, but she (Aisha) is lawful for me to marry."

The Jig Is Up -- The People Said No More.

There is an old Soviet saying that I think fits what Iran has done for years, "The future is known, the past only changes." True of any despot government.

I had read a stat many years ago that mentioned that 65% of the countries demographic was 25-years and younger. Many of these people watch MTV, listen to American music, the upper crust likes lowered cars, etc. Another stat I read while taking a missions class in seminary that those who have satellite TV in Iran, many (a high %), watch Christian television, and there are many missionaries in country. There is an underbelly of a generation that doesn't want the religious Ayottolas in control. This movement may be -- at least in part -- fueled by this human need for freedom. We will see.

(Financial Times -- free registration required) Of course, there are those who think that – despite the turmoil in Tehran – President Mahmoud Ahamdi-Nejad may actually have won the election. Their line of argument is that western journalists and middle-class Iranians have been deceived by focusing too much on opinion in the capital city and amongst the educated elite. Iran might be like Thailand – a country that has recently been through political turmoil because the urban middle-classes are regularly out-voted by the rural poor.

These arguments are unconvincing. The Iranian election bears all the hallmarks of a stolen vote. The official count has Mr Ahmadi-Nejad winning even in the home town of Mir-Hossein Moussavi, his main challenger. Mr Ahmadi-Nejad is said to have won even in Azeri-speaking constituencies, despite the fact that Mr Moussavi comes from an Azeri background. The official tally gave Mr Ahmadi-Nejad 63 per cent of the vote, which is way out of line with most pre-election predictions. The Iranian regime has reacted to popular protests with all the instincts of a dictatorship – beating up protesters, locking up opponents, shutting down text messaging services and internet sites....

Iran... pray for the missionaries and young people who should overthrow this regime

(This is all HotAir - by the way)

Bush called it -- North Korea and Iran, the "evil 3" -- This is Obama's chance to shine!

CNN producer: Iranian students say they’re doomed if Obama accepts the Iranian election

Much depends on the meaning of “accepts,” though, doesn’t it? I’m sure we’ll get some patented Hopenchange drivel tomorrow about “grave concerns,” etc, but if Iran’s kids are expecting The One to walk away from nuke negotiations in protest of the coup, they’re kidding themselves. For one thing, that’s something Bush would do, and of course Bush was never, evah right. For another, if Obama walks away then he’s essentially betting all his chips on a full-blown counterrevolution to erupt and topple the regime. If it doesn’t, or if it’s put down a la Tiananmen Square, Khamenei et al. will be in no mood to forgive and forget. Which means it’s either war to take out Iran’s nuke infrastructure or learn to stop worrying and love the Iranian bomb. Israelis are learning already!

What if Obama did walk away, though? There’s actually another possibility here: Western leaders protest the result by ending negotiations and refusing to recognize Ahmadinejad as president, which in turn encourages protesters to keep up their agitation for several more months. Paralyzed and afraid of being overthrown, the regime becomes so desperate that it agrees to give up the nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of all sanctions and renewed diplomatic ties with the U.S. in hopes that the economic turnaround produced by the influx of foreign capital will placate the people. The dilemma for The One here is that he campaigned on the moronic assumption that Iran might conceivably be willing to make a deal on nukes if we just talked nice to them or sweetened our offer a bit. Now comes the moment of truth: Does he really believe that? Does he honestly believe, after years of stonewalling, with the country maybe a year away from being able to build a bomb, that they’re going to throw in the towel now? If not, then walk away. There’s no downside and potentially a tremendous upside if the regime falls or a grateful Mousavi ends up being installed as president. And needless to say, from a moral standpoint, he’d be on the side of the angels. Conflict with the regime is inevitable; if the Iranian public’s willing to fight our battle for us, let’s support them with all we’ve got. As Hitchens eloquently puts it, “Fascism at home sooner or later means fascism abroad. Face it now or fight it later.”

Let's Pray For Civil War

- State media declared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the winner of Iran's election but challenger Mirhossein Mousavi alleged irregularities and claimed victory for himself.

The state election commission said early on Saturday that Ahmadinejad, a hardline conservative, was ahead with almost 68 percent of the vote after 15 million votes -- or 47 percent of ballot boxes -- had been counted. Mousavi, a moderate, had just over 30 percent.

The official news agency IRNA said: "Dr Ahmadinejad, by winning most votes at the 10th presidential election, has secured his victory."

UPDATE 6-13-09
(From HotAir)

“I use this chance to honor the emotions of the nation of Iran and remind them that Iran, this sacred being, belongs to them and not to the fraudulent. It is you who should stay alert. The traitors to the nation’s vote have no fear if this house of Persians burns in flames. We will continue with our green wave of rationality that is inspired by our religious learnings and our love for prophet Mohammad and will confront the rampage of lies that has appeared and marked the image of our nation.”

**************************

“One man passing by told her, ‘You wrote Mousavi, they read Ahmadinejad!’ She responded: ‘They’re illiterate and need to learn reading.’

Then a man in a car moving in the other direction rolled down his window and shouted at her in anger, ‘You whore! Why are you creating conflict between people?’ A basiji (a member of the volunteer paramilitary aligned with Ahmadinejad) charged at her from nowhere with a metal rod and was about to beat her when he was held down and beaten himself by five or six men streaming out of nearby cars.

‘I mean, just look at this! If Ahmadinejad won 25 million votes, which they claim, we should be celebrating, right?’ an onlooker commented.”

**************************

“One employee of the Interior Ministry, which carried out the vote count, said the government had been preparing its fraud for weeks, purging anyone of doubtful loyalty and importing pliable staff members from around the country.

‘They didn’t rig the vote,’ claimed the man, who showed his ministry identification card but pleaded not to be named. ‘They didn’t even look at the vote. They just wrote the name and put the number in front of it.’”

**************************

“Washington now faces a newly fractured Iranian polity ruled by a leadership that is willing to jettison its own institutions and legitimacy in its determination to retain absolute control. That does not bode well for Iran’s capacity to undertake serious talks and eventually engage in historic concessions on its nuclear program and support for terrorism. Obama has to be prepared to move forward with diplomacy despite the wholesale setback for Iran’s limited democracy. In the wake of this disastrous election, opportunities for progress on engagement may unexpectedly present themselves. But he should do so in full awareness of the farce that has been perpetrated with this Ahmadinejad ‘landslide’ and of the seething frustration of so many Iranians.”

**************************

From a reader: ‘My next door neighbor is an Iranian immigrant who came here in 1977. He just received a SAT phone call from his brother in Tehran who reports that the rooftops of nighttime Tehran are filled with people shouting ‘Allah O Akbar’ in protest of the government and election results. The last time he remembers this happening is in 1979 during the Revolution. Says the sound of tens of thousands on the rooftops is deafening right now.’ It’s almost four in the morning in Iran.”

NYC Human Rights Rally Against Islamic Supremacism: Simon Deng

The Rainbow coalition protested the violation of human rights by political Islam and shariah law. Though drenched in the rain, 300-500 decent and good people made their way to Times Square in NYC and stood up to the Islamic violence and oppression of free men across the world. Spectacularly diverse but unified in our purpose - life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and an absolute end to jihad

Moderate Muslim (Reform) Site -- YES!

Support - Pray

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I may be late to the loop, but I would like to say – ABOUT TIME!! Moderate Muslim’s are a group that need support as well as prayer. They are targeted in other countries the same as infidels. Death, torture, dhimmitude often follows a moderate position on the Islamic faith in Muslim countries. Death threats aren’t too far behind these folks even here in the West.

Check out this site; add it to your blog roll. Below is just a taste of what they write:

Emerson, a Jew who gets it
A perspective of a moderate Muslim

At the risk of sounding anti-Semitic, I want to say this: either American Jews are completely clueless about the internal struggle inside Islam or they are so cowardly, that they are even afraid to voice their opinion. Or maybe it's a combination of both.

Every time there is a development that involves radical Islam, be it a Mayor of New York attending an Islamist parade, DOJ's officials attending an Islamist conference, or a protester being sued for having the balls to expose an Islamist-sponsored event at an amusement park, the American Jewish community is as quiet as a church mouse. It's like it is not even there.

The effect of this silence is devastating. Not for the Jewish community, not yet. That time is still to come. The silence affects the American Muslim community. Every time moderate Muslims are ignored and Islamists are legitimized (by either direct support from government representatives or silent support of the ADL), radicals gain ground. In the current PC climate, moderate Muslims have pretty much no choice but to keep their mouths shut.

Luckily for us, not everyone in the Jewish community is like that. There are some Jews that are speaking out. One of them is Steven Emerson, who has been warning the West about the dangers of Islamic fundamentalism since before PanAm 103. Most of his current work is focused on exposing the radicals masquerading as the moderates – those radicals who are embraced by the DOJ and the Pentagon, by the mayor of New York Bloomberg (Rudy would never get into bed with terrorist supporters) and the Treasury Department, by the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security, by the Congress and the White House.

There is a war of ideas within Islam, and moderate Muslims are losing. Most of Muslim clergy and Muslim establishment are paid for by the Wahhabis. Moderate Muslims are being run out of Mosques and community centers, and in many cases are physically threatened. Moderate Muslims have no place in the media or public debate, because the place reserved for Muslims is filled by Islamic radicals, who attempt to make criticizing anything Islamic a taboo. According to the Islamists, a Muslim can do no wrong.

1. When a non-Muslim criticizes Islam or Muslims, he/she is an Islamophobe.
2. When a Muslim criticizes Islam or Muslim, he/she is not a real Muslim, therefore see #1.

This is a tactic used by "moderate" Muslims, the darlings of the government and the media. But how can you call someone who praises bin Laden, or has ties to Hamas, or calls for the elimination of Israel, or wants to replace the Constitution with the Koran a moderate? They are anything but moderates, however nobody except for a few people like Steven Emerson seems to notice that. But even when the Emersons of America appeal to the public, they are often being dismissed as alarmists and racists. Well, they are anything, but. You don't have to be a clairvoyant to predict the future when it comes to expansion of radical Islam and extinction of moderate Muslims. All you need to do is get your heads out of the sand.

Why our government is so forgiving and forgetful when it comes to individuals or organizations with known terrorist ties and anti-American views is beyond me. Why the Jewish leaders are so timid when it comes to the subject of radical Islam is incomprehensible.

I thank God every day for people like Steven Emerson, because they are the last glimmer of hope for moderate Muslims.

K.M.
