Baucus (D) Acknowledged His Relationship With Melodee Hanes, Whom He Nominated For The Job Of U.S. Attorney In Montana...

Sen. Max Baucus (Democrat-Mont.), chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, gave a nearly $14,000 pay raise to a female staffer in 2008, at the time he was becoming romantically involved with her, and later that year took her on a taxpayer-funded trip to Southeast Asia and the Middle East, though foreign policy was not her specialty.

Late last Friday, Baucus acknowledged his relationship with Melodee Hanes, whom he nominated for the job of U.S. attorney in Montana, after it was first reported on the website MainJustice.com. But he said that Hanes withdrew from consideration for the job when the relationship became more serious. The following day, Baucus dismissed calls for an ethics investigation, saying, “I went out of my way to be up and up.”

Since his announcement, more details of the relationship have emerged, raising questions about a workplace romance between a boss and employee that Baucus tried to keep quiet, and apparently contradicting his explanation for why Hanes’s nomination was withdrawn.

Jodi Rave, a former reporter for the Missoulian revealed over the weekend that the paper informed Baucus in March that it was poised to publish a story about Hanes’s relationship with the senator and the fact that he had nominated her for the U.S. attorney job.

The next day, Hanes withdrew from consideration. According to the Missoulian, Baucus’s office never acknowledged a relationship between the two, and the paper did not run a story....

Catholic Nurse Forced to Participate in Abortion -- Liberal Tyranny Disguised as Egalitarianism

This is just another example of the tyranny of the left. They make promises that if "A" is passed "B" won't happen. Hypocrites! The sadness in this woman's heart must be horrible. I hope the The Alliance Defense Fund sues for not just change of policy but for a crap-load of money as well!

(HotAir import)
This is certainly not an unusual case, or else we wouldn’t have federal statutes to prevent it. In New York, a Catholic nurse was forced to participate in abortion, despite the fact that her supervisors knew of her moral objection to it. When she initially refused, they threatened her job.
The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Catholic nurse who was forced to participate in an abortion, despite voicing her moral objections.
Catherina Cenzon-DeCarlo, a nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, was instructed to assist in a late second-trimester abortion for a woman 22 weeks into her pregnancy. The hospital had known of the nurse’s religious objections to abortion since she was hired in 2004.
Cenzon-DeCarlo reminded her supervisors of her religious objections, but was told that if she did not participate, she would be charged with “insubordination and patient abandonment,” which could result in disciplinary action and the possible loss of her job and nursing license
Hospital officials told Cenzon-DeCarlo that the situation was an “emergency,” although evidence suggests that this was not the case. The hospital itself labeled the case as a “Category II,” meaning that the operation needed to take place within six hours. This would have allowed enough time to find another nurse without moral objections to assisting in the abortion, her lawyers said.
Matt Bowman, legal counsel for the ADF, explained that the hospital could not legally have required the nurse to participate in the abortion even if the case had been a “Category I,” meaning that the patient required “immediate surgical intervention for life or limb threatening conditions.” Federal statutes prohibit recipients of federal health funds from requiring employees to perform abortions, Bowman told CNA.
However, the evidence in the case suggested that the patient was not even at the “Category II” level, as the hospital had claimed. When the woman was brought into the room, Cenzon-DeCarlo observed no indications that the case was a medical emergency.
The woman’s blood pressure was not at a crisis level, and standard procedures for patients in crisis had not been taken. Yet the nurse was still required to aid in the abortion.
When CNA contacted Mount Sinai, officials refused to comment or explain why the nurse was asked to participate in the abortion. Officials stated that they would not comment because a lawsuit is pending.
Now, the ADF has filed a lawsuit against Mount Sinai for violating Cenzon-DeCarlo’s rights of conscience.
… Earlier this month, President Obama promised that a “robust conscience clause” would be forthcoming, but critics are skeptical after his earlier decision to repeal conscience provisions put in place by the Bush administration.

Tiger Woods Paid for Orgies...

Can I say he will become the pariah of Gold because he has tarnished it for years.

CHEATING Tiger Woods splashed out £25,000 a weekend partying with high-class hookers, a notorious Hollywood madam told a US website last night.

(Loredana Jolie, left, reportedly was Woods favorite.)  Michelle Braun said that she sometimes provided Woods with ten to 15 girls at one time.

Braun told E! News the golf star would call her to arrange meetings with girls as he left wife Elin Nordegren, 29, at home.

And she told a US newspaper his favourite was stunning Playboy model Loredana Jolie.

Braun claimed Woods would spend £10,000 a time to meet Loredana, 26, in Manhattan.

But Loredana said only that she received "a ring, a pair of diamond studs and a watch" from Woods.

She added: "He came off as being a really nice person. He had manners."

Braun also alleged two of the other women to have romped with Woods - porn star Holly Sampson and lingerie model Jamie Jungers - were on her books. ....
She said: "He had a pretty big appetite for girls. Never just one girl. He would want to set up a whole weekend of partying and have ten or 15 girls 24/7.

"Mostly young, college cuties. In an average weekend in Las Vegas he'd probably spend $30,000 or $40,000."....

Avatar A Leftist Movie -- "3-hour Lecture on Imperialism Starring Smurfs"

"[P]olitically it’s pure Che Guevara."

(HotAir import)

December 11, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Ace, just doing my part to spread the word. You know what sounds like a fun Friday night? A three-hour lecture on imperialism starring Smurfs.
The political import of Avatar — and there’s no waving this aspect away because it’s right in your face start to finish, and especially in the third act — is ardently left. It is pro-indigenous native, anti-corporate, anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. Iraq War effort, anti-U.S.-in-Afghanistan (and anti-troop-surge-in-that-country, or strongly against the thinking of President Barack Obama and Gen. Stanley McChrystal), anti-rightie, anti-Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld, etc.
Yes, it’s very teenaged adolescent in its super-imaginative wacko visions and exuberant energy levels, but politically it’s pure Che Guevara (more the Motorcycle Diaries or Che-in-Cuba version than Che in Bolivia), Naom Chomsky, Hugo Chavez, Howard Zinn, Gore Vidal, Oliver Stone, etc. Cameron is an earth-hugging lefty from way back (the flagrant despise-the-arrogant-rich current in Titanic being but one example) so this should come as no surprise to anyone. I for one am cheered and heartened.
If Sarah Palin sees Avatar and then sits down and actually thinks about what it’s saying (which is always a dicey proposition, I admit), she’ll hate this movie.
It gets worse from there. Follow the link for quotes from James Cameron affirming the movie’s message plus a bonus theory by author Jeffrey Wells about, gulp, some sort of 9/11 metaphor lurking in the subtext. Seriously: Did anyone expect otherwise? Given the framework of the plot and the obvious allegorical intent — military invades planet to secure valuable commodity in the soil — what other way could this flick have conceivably tilted? The mercenaries heroically uproot the natives, seize the treasure, and blast them to bits while the audience cheers? C’mon. Once you know that the aliens are doe-eyed humanoids rather than screeching black reptiles with giant fangs, the die is cast, baby.

Exit question via Dave Weigel: Isn’t this basically the same plot as “Aliens” except with good guys and bad guys reversed?

Update: Bipartisan consensus at last!
Absent from the big screen for over a decade now, Oscar-winning director James Cameron returns armed with a reported half-billion dollars, a story he’s been desperate to tell for 15 years, and the very latest in cutting-edge visual technology. The result is “Avatar,” a sanctimonious thud of a movie so infested with one-dimensional characters and PC clichés that not a single plot turn – small or large – surprises. I call it the “liberal tell,” where the early and obvious politics of the film gives away the entire story before the second act begins, and “Avatar” might be the sorriest example of this yet. For all the time and money and technology that went into its making, the thing that matters most – character and story – are strictly Afterschool Special…
Think of “Avatar” as “Death Wish 5” for leftists. A simplistic, revisionist revenge fantasy where if you freakin’ hate the bad guys (America), you’re able to forgive the by-the-numbers predictability of it all and still get off watching them get what they got coming.

Obama's Czar Pushed Anal Sex in Parks with Strangers (Gateway Pundit Import -- Gateway Has Led In This Story) - The Progressive Future is Now!

Jim Hoft

In March 2000 the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) organization of Massachusetts held its 10 Year Anniversary GLSEN/Boston conference at Tufts University. This conference was fully supported by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Safe Schools Program, the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and some of the presenters even received federal money. During the 2000 conference, workshop leaders led a “youth only, ages 14-21″ session that offered lessons in “fisting” a dangerous sexual practice. During the same workshop an activist asked 14 year-old students, “Spit or swallow?… Is it rude?” The unbelievable audio clip is posted here. Barack Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” Kevin Jennings is the founder of GLSEN. He was paid $273,573.96 as its executive director in 2007. Jennings was the keynote speaker at the 2000 GLSEN conference.

Unfortunately for GLSEN, undercover journalists with Mass Resistance recorded these outrageous sessions at Tufts University. The audio was later leaked to a local radio station. This created such an uproar that GLSEN leaders were forced to apologize for their disgusting behavior.

Despite the controversy, Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings and his GLSEN organization did nothing to clean up their act. In fact in 2001 activists handed out “fisting kits” to the children and teachers who attended the GLSEN conference.

But that’s not all. The children who attended Kevin Jennnings’ GLSEN 2005 Conference also left with their own “Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century”.

Here’s one page from that Black Book for teens:

dookie noodle
The entire Little Black Book is posted here.
And, here’s the transcript from item #3 above:

No Dookie On Your Noodle! Nobody knows better than queer men that shit happens. It’s just a fact of life…and buttsex. While there are steps to take to avoid a mess, they’re not always practical for the boy on the go. Condoms allow you a certain freedom that can be a great selling point if you’re cruising the park and don’t want stray spunk on your new polyester shirt…”
So, basically, in the crudest language imaginable, GLSEN recommended that “boys” go out cruising for anonymous anal sex in public parks with strangers.

Thanks to a reader for pointing this out.

Today Kevin Jennings, the founder of GLSEN, is Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar.
There’s more to come.

UPDATE: Grassroots Nation has started a petition to fire Kevin Jennings.

Three Time Gore Gets It Wrong (Knowingly, or Un-Knowingly?)

 (Herald Sun import)

Al Gore has studied the Climategate emails with his typically rigorous eye and dismissed them as mere piffle:
Q: How damaging to your argument was the disclosure of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University?
A: To paraphrase Shakespeare, it’s sound and fury signifying nothing. I haven’t read all the e-mails, but the most recent one is more than 10 years old. These private exchanges between these scientists do not in any way cause any question about the scientific consensus.
And in case you think that was a mere slip of the tongue:

Q: There is a sense in these e-mails, though, that data was hidden and hoarded, which is the opposite of the case you make [in your book] about having an open and fair debate.
A: I think it’s been taken wildly out of context. The discussion you’re referring to was about two papers that two of these scientists felt shouldn’t be accepted as part of the IPCC report. Both of them, in fact, were included, referenced, and discussed. So an e-mail exchange more than 10 years ago including somebody’s opinion that a particular study isn’t any good is one thing, but the fact that the study ended up being included and discussed anyway is a more powerful comment on what the result of the scientific process really is.
In fact, thrice denied:
These people are examining what they can or should do to deal with the P.R. dimensions of this, but where the scientific consensus is concerned, it’s completely unchanged. What we’re seeing is a set of changes worldwide that just make this discussion over 10-year-old e-mails kind of silly.

In fact, as Watts Up With That shows, one Climategate email was from just two months ago. The most recent was sent on November 12 - just a month ago. The emails which have Tom Wigley seeming (to me) to choke on the deceit are all from this year. Phil Jones’ infamous email urging other Climategate scientists to delete emails is from last year.

How closely did Gore read these emails? Did he actually read any at all? Was he lying or just terribly mistaken? What else has he got wrong?

Debating Conspiracists -- NWO & 9/11 Truthers Confronted

There is one thing I know from debating person's of differing views than I, the debates disappear.  So I wanted to get this early spar in my "record books" for memory.  Enjoy.

I was happy to see Gore confronted, however, the flap about the NWO bummed me out. So I posted my feeling at the We Are Change Chicago's site, but people who cry about others not debating and answering questions didn't allow the following to be posted:

I was happy about this until the NWO stuff started. Too bad. I have about 4,000 books in my meager condo. I started out on my reading career by reading many of the top NWO authors and books. I even became involved in the John Birch Society for a while, met Ezola Foster and Ron Paul… yada, yada. This view seemed to fit my eschatology as well, however, after much deliberation, wrestling with the Conspiracy Show (every full moon for three hours — Michael Medved). Tracking down and the following through the many references used in these books as well as the ideas espoused by many of the charlatans (like bombs being planted in the Oklahoma Federal Building, both parties being the same, etc., etc.), to the most recent ones (the Twin Towers being brought down by this secret cabal, ala Bush, WTC-7, birth certificates for Obama)… proved to me that this idea is bankrupt of anything substantive or that it has explanatory powers that should be taken seriously, and thusly, I have totally rejected this idea. In fact, I would posit that this unstable belief may in fact be the destabilizing factor that undermines governments in the future — since the Left is now the leader in this “conspiracy” arena and anarchy circles as well. What you are seeing in Gore and the U.N. is simply people living out a worldview, an ethos. If they are statists and socialist in their core, then they simply function in that way and fashion their affairs as such. This isn’t a giant conspiracy; it is people living out their existence with a set of beliefs that are shown to not work by shedding truth on them. Bankers in Germany and the U.S. are not the bad-guys. Neither is the Council of Foreign Relations or the Trilateral Commission. Yes there are statists in all organizations (just more-so in the TC & the CFR), hell, there are liberal socialists in my church (the emergent movement ala Brian McLaren, Rob Bell, and other liberal influences). You see, it is merely people living out a reality they see… people like Alex Jones (who rubs shoulders with Marxists in case you didn’t know) merely distort the power behind influencing rightly these worldviews. If you do not even know what a worldview is, may I suggest you read a hefty book — you will thank me later in life — by David Noebel, “Understanding the Times: The Collision of Today’s Competing Worldviews.” Although I agree that Al Gore needs more confronting, not only for his skewed PowerPoint presentation, but also for his very left-leaning political views. For this I commend you. However, all the wind left your sails as soon as you connected this to Alex Jones type thinking.
Here is a short synopsis of my understanding as it stands now. Please read the comments as well, some more debate on my thinking happens there:

Here is a good post I did on what a worldview is (connected to the post above this):

I totally understand where you're coming from. I know that about a year ago I would have also balked as soon as NWO talk started up. A year later and a year wiser, I do agree with much of Alex Jones's views, but I can understand where you come from.

The issue is this though: whether the evil is coming from a global NWO conspiracy or is simply the result of people living out their shoddy ethics, the evil still exists. We cannot get hung up on disagreeing with each other, we simply cannot afford it. I believe the NWO exists. However, the important thing is to combat the evil that we both agree exists.

Maybe it's all an orchestrated plot. Maybe it's not. I personally believe the former, but we have to band together to fight it - whether it is a plot or not. Where the evil comes from is subject to debate. Its existence, though, is not: and that is where we must band together and fight.

"We must hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately".

Thank you for your thoughts.

You wroteon December 7, 2009

Kevin, may I add to my "Thank you for your thoughts" post. It is important that we arrive at the same place with truth on our side. In philosophy - for instance - you can have a syllogism that is sound, or one that is false but reaches the same conclusion, for instance:
All dogs are animals.
Lassie is an animal.
Therefore, Lassie is a dog.
Here the conclusion is correct as well as the premises. However, the logic or truth of this deductive argument is false. Here is a true syllogistic argument:
All humans are mortal.
Socrates is a human.
Therefore, Socrates is mortal.
Truth is outside the realm of personal belief. You may "personally believe" in the former, however, speaking un-truths has no power in the world of ideas, outside of power. Let me explain with a quote from Mussolini:
“Everything I have said and done in these last years is relativism by intuition…. If relativism signifies contempt for fixed categories and men who claim to be bearers of an objective, immortal truth… then there is nothing more relativistic than fascistic attitudes and activity…. From the fact that all ideologies are of equal value, that all ideologies are mere fictions, the modern relativist infers that everybody has the right to create for himself his own ideology and to attempt to enforce it with all the energy of which he is capable.”
This understanding of truth is, unfortunately, the "ethos" of yours and my generation. Professor Allan Bloom agrees when he said that "there is one thing a professor can be absolutely certain of: almost every student entering the university believes, or says he believes, that truth is relative." So us walking lockstep towards the same goal is a fantasy that persons like myself, who have read hundreds of books by NWO authors on the NWO just cannot accept. Which is why "Loose Change" has been revamped and altered many times... because their stated propositions just didn't fit the facts.

You don't trust your government, maybe I don't as well (at least in its current form), neither do anarchists. However, I can only join hand-and-hand with people whom define liberty and government thusly:
"Old-fashioned liberalism embraces neither statism nor libertarianism, whether in social and economic policy or on lifestyle issues. Though it insists on constitutional checks on government to protect honorable liberties and the integrity of the family and other institutions of civil society, it does not regard government as an evil. Rather, it understands well-functioning and limited government as indispensable to the common good. While principle dictates government involvement in some matters and forbids it in others, old-fashioned liberalism emphasizes the prudential nature of most policy judgments concerning the regulation of markets or morals. Though they reject unprincipled pragmatism, old-fashioned liberals prize moderation and caution in the vast range of political decision-making that is not determined by principles alone."
(source: http://religiopoliticaltalk.blogspot.com/2009/12/what-is-conservatism-is-it-liberal-or.html)

(In other words, I cannot walk hand-in-hand with an anarchist even though we both do not trust our government.) So again, confronting Al Gore with proper science and "rousting" him in his comfort zone is great. Following it up with clap-trap about the New World Order undermines the entire presentation of him not debating the issues at hand. Truth is powerful, cases built on false logic and facts are not.
"…right and wrong
(Between whose endless jar justice resides)
Should lose their names, and so should justice too.
Then everything includes itself in power,
And appetite, and universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce an universal prey,
And last eat up himself."

"We respectfully request that you remove Kevin Jennings, the Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, from your administration. It is clear that Mr. Jennings lacks the appropriate qualifications and ethical standards to serve in this capacity."
The letter was signed by U.S. Reps. Doug Lamborn of Colorado, Steve King of Iowa, Duncan Hunter of California, Darrell Issa of California, Paul Broun of Georgia, Joe Pitts of Pennsylvania and others. The lawmakers pointed out Jennings "has played an integral role in promoting homosexuality and pushing a pro-homosexual agenda in America's schools."....

Live Action Does It Again: "That’s Not a Baby Growing Inside of You" ~ Planned Parenthood

(HotAir h/t)

Live Action has a new series of videos that launches today called the Rosa Acuna Project. Their new effort aims to expose manipulation by Planned Parenthood counselors intended to pressure women into having abortions, or at the very least, provide dishonest information to support false rationalizations for the procedure. In this clip from the Appleton, Wisconsin clinic, a counselor tells the woman that what’s growing inside her uterus isn’t a baby at all, or “anything like that” — and the doctor agrees:

Michael Steele Doesn't Dignify Slavery Connection

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday defended his remarks from Monday comparing congressional Republican opposition to healthcare to the 19th-century debate over slavery, accusing his GOP critics of "distorting" his intent.

"At pivotal points in American history, the tactics of distortion and delay have certainly been present," Reid said. "They've certainly been used to stop progress. That's what we're talking about here. That's what's happening here. It's very clear. That's the point I made — no more, no less. Anyone who willingly distorts my comments is only proving my point."

Reid on Monday said Republicans were displaying the same mindset as those who defended slavery.

“If you think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right,” Reid said. “When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said, ‘Slow down, it’s too early, things aren’t bad enough.’ ”

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele suggested Democrats should strip Reid of his leadership position if he does not apologize for the comments, but Senate Democrats on Tuesday defended him. Democratic Conference Secretary Patty Murray (Wash.) said there was no discussion of the topic within the caucus and no talk of a Reid apology.

Democratic Filth! Obama's "Safe-School Czar" Supplies Students with "Fisting Kits"

(Drudge Report h/t -- Big Government import)

In March 2000 the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) organization of Massachusetts held its 10 Year Anniversary GLSEN/Boston conference at Tufts University. This conference was fully supported by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Safe Schools Program, the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and some of the presenters even received federal money. Jennings was the keynote speaker at the 2000 GLSEN conference.

Photo: This kit for fisting was distributed by Planned Parenthood at Fistgate II. (Mass News)

Unfortunately for GLSEN, undercover journalists with Mass Resistance recorded these outrageous sessions. The audio was later leaked to a local radio station. This created such an uproar that GLSEN leaders were forced to apologize for their disgusting behavior.

Thanks to Soros-linked Media Matters we now know that GLSEN director, and current Obama Safe Schools Czar, Kevin Jennings was confronted on the vile content discussed at the children’s conference.
“Like the Parents Rights Coalition and the Department of Education, GLSEN is also troubled by some of the content that came up during this workshop,” said Kevin Jennings, national executive director of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.
He said people who run workshops in the future will get clearer guidelines, though Jennings said the network’s annual conference at Tufts University should not be judged on the 30-student seminar “What They Didn’t Tell You About Queer Sex and Sexuality in Health Class.”
“We need to make our expectations and guidelines to outside facilitators much more clear,” said Jennings. “Because we are surprised and troubled by some of the accounts we’ve heard.”
But despite Media Matters’ claims, Kevin Jennings and his GLSEN organization did nothing to clean up their act. In fact in 2001 activists handed out “fisting kits” to the children and teachers who attended the GLSEN conference.

That’s correct. Fisting kits.

At Kevin Jennings’ 2001 GLSEN Conference an estimated 400 student attendees were given their own “fisting kit.”

Mass News reported on the 2001 conference:
Fistgate II was held on Saturday in the same building at Tufts University as last year with the same message about how to practice homosexual sex.
More students attended this year. Out of approximately 650 attendees, about 400 of those were students.
Kits of plastic gloves intended for “fisting” or oral sex were distributed at Planned Parenthood’s table in the lobby.
Public funds were used for the event with at least two school buses being used to transport students, from Methuen High School and Marblehead Public Schools. Adam Glick, Conference Coordinator, said he did not know how the buses were paid for. Other children were transported by public school teachers in private cars.
The private homosexual sponsor, GLSEN, is given state funds for many purposes and does not publicly report on how the money is spent.
There was a heightened sense of security with many Tufts campus police being highly visible in order to stop parents from seeing what occurred at the conference.
Although Tufts University was able to claim ignorance about the event last year, they obviously became complicit this year when they welcomed the conference back and provided the security muscle to keep the strategy sessions and indoctrination of the children running smoothly.
Founding Bloggers has a photo of one of the school buses that brought students to the conference.

Mass News had another article that described the contents of the “fisting kits” given to the students.
Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts distributed kits for fisting and oral sex. They contained a single plastic glove, a package of K-Y lubricant and instructions on how to make a “dental dam” out of the material.
The instructions explained how to cut up the glove with scissors until all that remains is a rubber rectangle with the “thumb” portion protruding from the middle. “Use the thumb space for your tongue,” say the directions.
The label on the ziplocked package says, “protects against STD’s,” and bears the Planned Parenthood logo and phone number.
GLSEN (Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network) got into trouble last year for hosting a workshop that gave young teens explicit how-to instructions on homosexual sex practices such as “fisting.” The ensuing scandal was subsequently dubbed “Fistgate.”
Regarding “dental dams,” Dr. John Diggs, a specialist in internal medicine who lectures about STDs, said that the kits create a false sense of security. “I’ve written a brochure about this whole thing,” he said. “The way I describe it is, I ask ‘How many people want to take a bite of a sandwich without taking the wrapper off?’ ‘How many people want to suck on balloons?’ Nobody does.”
Again, Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar organized and sponsored this conference as executive director of GLSEN. His organization later pushed filthy books on America’s children.

Today he’s running the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools in the US Department of Education.
Do you feel safe now?

Teacher are Overpaid? WHAT! (An Old Article)

(Re-Post)

I was in a recent discussion about some issues and I wanted to post the article I was referring to here so that my archrival… no, really a friend, can come here and read the entire article for himself.  Thank God that someone at work drops off copies of the Wall Street Journal, cause I love their editorial page.  Nuf said, here’s the article:

Wall Street Opinion journal (Online)
IN CLASS
$34.06 an Hour
That's how much the average public school teachers makes. Is that "underpaid"?
By Jay P. Greene and Marcus A. Winters
Friday, February 2, 2007

Who, on average, is better paid--public school teachers or architects? How about teachers or economists? You might be surprised to learn that public school teachers are better paid than these and many other professionals. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, public school teachers earned $34.06 per hour in 2005, 36% more than the hourly wage of the average white-collar worker and 11% more than the average professional specialty or technical worker.

In the popular imagination, however, public school teachers are underpaid. "Salaries are too low. We all know that," noted First Lady Laura Bush, expressing the consensus view. "We need to figure out a way to pay teachers more." Indeed, our efforts to hire more teachers and raise their salaries account for the bulk of public school spending increases over the last four decades. During that time per-pupil spending, adjusted for inflation, has more than doubled; overall we now annually spend more than $500 billion on public education.

The perception that we underpay teachers is likely to play a significant role in the debate to reauthorize No Child Left Behind. The new Democratic majority intends to push for greater education funding, much of which would likely to go toward increasing teacher compensation. It would be beneficial if the debate focused on the actual salaries teachers are already paid.

It would also be beneficial if the debate touched on the correlation between teacher pay and actual results. To wit, higher teacher pay seems to have no effect on raising student achievement. Metropolitan areas with higher teacher pay do not graduate a higher percentage of their students than areas with lower teacher pay.

In fact, the urban areas with the highest teacher pay are famous for their abysmal outcomes. Metro Detroit leads the nation, paying its public school teachers, on average, $47.28 per hour. That's 61% more than the average white-collar worker in the Detroit area and 36% more than the average professional worker. In metro New York, public school teachers make $45.79 per hour, 20% more than the average professional worker in that area. And in Los Angeles teachers earn $44.03 per hour, 23% higher than other professionals in the area.

Evidence suggests that the way we pay teachers is more important than simply what they take home. Currently salaries are determined almost entirely by seniority--the number of years in the classroom--and the number of advanced degrees accumulated. Neither has much to do with student improvement.

There is evidence that providing bonuses to teachers who improve the performance of their students does raise academic proficiency. With our colleagues at the University of Arkansas we found that a Little Rock program providing bonuses to teachers based on student gains on standardized tests substantially increased math proficiency. Researchers at the University of Florida recently found similar results in a nationwide evaluation.

Of course, public school teacher earnings look less impressive when viewed on an annual basis than on an hourly basis. This is because teachers tend to work fewer hours per year, with breaks during the summer, winter and spring. But comparing earnings on an annual basis would be inappropriate when teachers work significantly fewer hours than do other workers. Teachers can use that time to be with family, to engage in activities that they enjoy, or to earn additional money from other employment. That time off is worth money and cannot simply be ignored when comparing earnings. The appropriate way to compare earnings in this circumstance is to focus on hourly rates.

Moreover, the earnings data reported here, which are taken directly from the National Compensation Survey conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, do not include retirement and health benefits, which tend to be quite generous for public school teachers relative to other workers. Nor do they include the nonmonetary benefit of greater job security due to the tenure that most public school teachers enjoy.

Educators sometimes object that hourly earnings calculations do not capture the additional hours they work outside of school, but this objection is not very compelling. First, the National Compensation Survey is designed to capture all hours actually worked. And teachers are hardly the only wage earners who take work home with them.

The fact is that teachers are better paid than most other professionals. What matters is the way that we pay public school teachers, not the amount. The next time politicians call for tax increases to address the problem of terribly underpaid public school teachers, they might be reminded of these facts.

Mr. Greene holds the endowed chair of education reform at the University of Arkansas and is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, where Mr. Winters is a senior research associate. Their report, "How Much Are Public School Teachers Paid?," was released this week.

BREAKING NEWS (@ Religio-Political At Least) -- Ergun Caner, President of Liberty University, Lying?

I Have to Post This As Much As It Pains Me... I will Post an Update or Retraction If New Evidence Comes to Light -- Which I Doubt

I would post info on similar people of other faiths.  To be fair and truthful here at Religio-Political, I will do the same of my own.  This is a h/t to Truth Exposer.  Truth Exposer (and mokhan247) has a total of ten videos on Ergun... unless he is editing these videos in some way (which I highly doubt), he has exposed a fraud. If he has exposed a fraud, I am glad, the Christian community will reject his into the waste pile of other hypocrites (admittedly, he is up there in position). I just wish their were a larger portion of Islamic society that practiced the same and not Taqiyya.

A Christian Professor named Ergun Mehmet Caner (President of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary) pretends to be an ex-Muslim. Pulls off a great act for quite a long time. That is, until he gets magnificently exposed and torn to shreds by an internet user. This draws the attention of additional online scrutiny and Ergun Caner is finally forced to retract his fake PhD. Epic smackdown and internet More..More.. More..justice. Feel free to contact this fraud at ergun@erguncaner.com. Further contact info can be found at http://xrl.us/bfio7j

It turns out that these ex-muslim videos put up by christians are totally fake. Any Muslim who has basic knowledge can spot this. I suppose its because they cant accept the fact that the videos of christians becoming muslims are actually genuine.

In video #7, Ergun, who has his D.Min on his and his brother's book, Unveiling Islam, which, because of pressure from Mirele, "Ergun Caner's Lies Catch Up To Him (Part 1)," have been removed Ergun Caner as well as him changing his Ph.D. to a Th.D.

Mohammed Khan (creator of the videos above) and "Dr." Ergun Caner have gone rounds... not officially, but if you follow these links you will see how:

  1. Ergun Caner Reponds to Videos
  2. Mohammed Khan (creator of the videos) Writes an Open Letter
  3. Response to Ergun's Post on Videos About Him (Pretty Damning)

Ergun's response in #1 is not really relevant at all and doesn't respond to any of the content of the videos.  The third link seals it for me.  Like I said, if I see any convincing evidence to the contrary, I will post it.  But I think Ergun should step down and the award for Unveiling Islam needs to be rescinded.  Below is a scan of the back of my book "Unveiling Islam."  You can see his D.Min was still listed.
