"Desecrated Flag" Video Is DNC Finalist -- Disgusting, But, If the "Piss Christ" is Art....
One of the 20 finalists in health care video contest run by Barack Obama’s campaign arm features a mural of an America flag splattered with health care graffiti until it’s covered completely by black paint.
In the video (also below) – which is accompanied by the sound of a heart monitor pumping and then flat-lining – words such as “pre-existing conditions,” “homeless” and “death panel” ultimately obliterate the flag, which reappears on screen seconds later with the words “Health Will Bring Our Country Back to Life” on the blue field where the 50 stars usually are.
According to the Organizing for American Web site, the 20 finalists in the “Health Reform Video Challenge” were chosen by a panel of “qualified” Democratic National Committee “employee judges.”
A contestant whose video didn’t make the final-20 cut complains that a video “defacing the flag” won’t do much to help President Barack Obama or the Democrats sell health care reform.
“They should never pick that,” said the contestant, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “It makes the Democrats look really, really bad.”.... (Politico.com)....
Famous Los Angeles Street Artist, Saber, sends his message to the country on health care reform. This is his submission for President Barack Obama's Organizing For America Health Reform Video Challenge. This video was edited by Kevin Chapados. (From video site)The NEA is the National Endowment for the Arts They are the largest funding resource for Art which is our 5th Largest Industry in the country.

U.S. Marine Corps Col. Kenneth L. Reusser, R.I.P.
I thought this was a pass along (h/t Michelle Malkin)
Here’s a man whose legacy and name you should tell your children about instead: U.S. Marine Corps Col. Kenneth L. Reusser. R.I.P. Via the Portland Oregonian:
They came by ones and twos Friday, quietly slipping into the pews at New Hope Community Church. They smiled at the words honoring a man whose faith made him an inspiration and whose exploits in three wars made him a hero.
And when the last mournful drone of the bagpipes faded, they said goodbye to Col. Kenneth L. Reusser of Milwaukie, the most decorated U.S. Marine Corps aviator in history.
“He was the finest gentleman I’ve ever met,” said Harley Wedel of Fairview, a fellow Korean War veteran. “I’m really going to miss him.”
Reusser flew an amazing 253 combat missions in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was shot down in all three wars — five times in all. He earned two Navy Crosses, four Purple Hearts and two Legions of Merit among his 59 medals.
In 1945, while based in Okinawa, he stripped down his F4U-4 Corsair fighter and intercepted a Japanese observation plane at an altitude much higher than usual. When his guns froze, he flew his fighter into the observation plane, hacking off its tail with his propeller.
In 1950, while serving in the storied “Black Sheep Squadron,” he led an attack on a North Korean tank-repair facility at Inchon, then destroyed an oil tanker — almost blowing himself out of the sky in the process.
During the Vietnam War, Reusser flew helicopters. He was leading a Marine Air Group in a rescue mission, when his own “Huey” was shot down. He needed skin grafts over 35 percent of his badly burned body.
Reusser was born Jan. 27, 1920, the son of a Cloverdale minister. While still a teenager, he became a committed Christian, which remained a big part of his life.
Reusser lived a “Tom Sawyer-ish” existence, Wedel said, jumping off a barn roof to test a parachute, racing motorcycles to help pay for college and earning a pilot’s license before WWII broke out.
After retiring from the Marine Corps, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft and the Piasecki Helicopter Corp.
In recent years, he remained active in veterans groups.

Typical... But Such a "Snub" On His First Day as Prez?
Obama snubs vets, skips Heroes ball
Becomes 1st new president to miss inauguration event:
Since its inception in 1953, every new president has attended The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball – until now.
The ball was created for President Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration to honor recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military award. The event is sponsored by the American Legion and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran's service organizations, including the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
And while 48 of the nation's 99 living recipients of the Medal of Honor attended the event, reports the Cleveland Leader and various self-attested attendees of the ball, newly sworn-in President Barack Obama became the first president in 56 years to skip out on the ceremony. ...

Of Flags and Patriots
A story soon to break on the NET. Boy Scouts rescued dozens and dozens of U.S. Flag left on the grounds of the Democratic National Convention. The McCain Palin tour is in Colorado Springs (CO.) where the Boy Scouts are going to present these rescued flags (video of the presentation of Ol' Glory surely to come). Again, Democrats, especially their base, are not concerned with what our history is. They are not proud of it... America (in their minds eye) is the cause of many of the world’s ills. I have pointed out in past blogs this almost Anti-Americanism sentiment inherent in the Democratic Party.

The first day of the RNC was fun but muted. One group, though, wasn’t deterred from pursuing its agenda by events in the Gulf. The Communist/anarchist/truther/pro-Obama protesters were out in force, committing various crimes and attempting to disrupt the proceedings.
The most shocking events are described by Jim Hoft, who was on a bus that was attacked from above when a group of protesters dropped sand bags on to the top of the bus. This is attempted murder: if the protesters had succeeded in hitting the windshield, a sand bag would have crashed through and killed the driver. The resulting accident would have killed or injured others on the bus. To my knowledge, the left-wingers/would-be murderers were not caught.
A little later, a busload of Cub Scouts were en route to the convention, where they were to present the colors to open the convention. A group of protesters–liberals, Obama supporters, or whatever–blocked the road, surrounded the bus, and attacked it, rocking the bus back and forth, denting and scratching the sides, and generally terrifying the children trapped inside. The left-wing protesters attacked a number of buses in the same way, but there is something especially despicable about attacking a group of Cub Scouts.
Among us conservatives, it’s pretty much an article of faith that people of all political persuasions are good folks who should be treated with respect; we just disagree about issues of public policy. (Liberals generally don’t adopt that view, although there are some honorable exceptions.) But sometimes that model doesn’t apply. The liberal/anarchist/Communist/pro-Obama protesters we have seen today in St. Paul are terrible people who, in many cases, should be subject to long prison terms. Let’s hope that a few of them, at least, are prosecuted.

What Do... Communists, upsidedow flags, illigel Presedential seals, missing flags, anti-American preachers, and Canadian soldiers all have in common?
Upside down flags at the DNC is somewhat unnerving to me, considering what the history of the Dems has been since the Vietnam era, but especially lately.
It seems the Dems are at their usual unpatriotic modus operandi. I can think back to these photos from the DNC saying the GOP is hurting our soldiers, and in the photo is a soldier... only problem was he is a Canadian soldier.

It made one blog ask if “anyone at the DNC know what an American soldier looks like?” Now we come to the upcoming DNC, and you will note something missing (I will be curious is they add a few flags by the time the convention roles around).

Update: Courtesy of the comments section, here’s Ronald Reagan at the 1976 Republican Convention:
Whether it is different this time than it has ever been before, I believe the Republican Party has a platform that is a banner of bold, unmistakable colors, with no pastel shades.
We have just heard a call to arms based on that platform, and a call to us to really be successful in communicating and reveal to the American people the difference between this platform and the platform of the opposing party, which is nothing but a revamp and a reissue and a running of a late, late show of the thing that we have been hearing from them for the last 40 years.
(RNC Stage)
Update II: I’m not the only one who noticed the chaotic nature of the Democratic design. Kate Phillips at the New York Times advises … sunglasses:
The differences couldn’t be more stark. You may need to wear your sunglasses indoors at the Democratic convention to mute the eye-popping colors. And while the cameras will surely zoom in on each evening’s speakers, the speakers on the stage will seem invariably dwarfed by the overshadowing backdrop. Someone already likened it to a game-show stage; get ready to call your lifeline for concentration.
The Republican stage, on the other hand, was designed to capture the intimate settings Senator John McCain enjoys when he talks to voters in town hall settings, according to convention plans. It’s not that high off the main floor of the arena, and its drama may be in its simplicity. And using the enormous American flag as its background serves as an echo of the campaign and convention motto, “Country First.”
It’s almost as if the Democrats wanted to distract viewers ….
... distract them from this?
The new Obama seal--inspired by the real presidential seal--debutted in Chicago on Friday at a meeting presumptive nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) had with Democratic governors. The seal--with the Obama "Yes we can" slogan in Latin--was created by the Obama campaign graphics team. In a bit of graphics whimsy, the seal incorporates the Obama "O" rising sun icon.

It caused one reader to comment that Obama is "unbelievably arrogant!"RedState blog made the poignant point that what Barack's stffers did is illegal:

All legalities aside, some of what we have seen in this campaigne is really disturbing, we can all remember the campaigne offices caught on film:
Well, at least Obama knows how to show his true patriotism!
